Refract (a regional festival of alternative culture) is a unique festival, because for five years now its programmes have been organised simultaneously in six towns in Serbia. The basic idea behind it is “decentralisation at work,” and the programmes presented are from the fields of new music, new theatre and visual arts.

Since 2002 the Refract Festival has been held in May each year in various Belgrade venues, including Dom Omladine, Kalemegdan Fortress, the May 25th - Sports Centre, the Student Cultural Centre and the Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as other Serbian cities and towns, including Kragujevac, Prijepolje, Banatsko Novo Selo and Zrenjanin.
Over these ten years the festival has hosted a multitude of artists, performers and projects, both local and international, from near and far. The most popular segment of the festival is always the music program, while the festival also includes exhibitions, plays, film screenings and live performances.
