Frontiers in Retreat Serbia

From August 2014. Kulturni Front/Kc Grad starts with realization of  five years European project named Frontiers in Retreat. Joanes Simon -Perret (France), Quelic Berga (Spain), Saara Maria Kariranta (Finland) and Mirko Nikolic (Serbia / UK) are the first guests artists who will be staying in Serbia from August to the end of October.  Besides Belgrade their artistic research regarding ecology will be held in art colonies in Zlakusa, Ecka and Sirogojno. They will try to find inspiration trough meetings with local artists as well as with experts in ecology, botany, physics and history.

Within the project, in the beginnig of October, will be organized first meeting of all partner organizations, experts and artists who will stay in residential program of Kc Grad this and folowing years. The first meeting, called Incubator, which will bring together all the participants of the project will be held from 2. To 6. October in Belgrade and Sirogojno.

Frontiers in Retreat is a research residency platform that fosters multidisciplinary dialogue on ecological issues.

The network gathers the artistic residency programs, artistic and educational organizations, artists, experts in various disciplines as well as a wider audience. Frontiers in Retreat is organised by HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme in partnership with the art organisations Mustarinda, Finland; Scottish Sculpture Workshop – SSW, Scotland; Interdisciplinary Art Group SERDE, Latvia; Cultural Front – GRAD, Serbia; Centre d'Art i Natura de Farrera, Spain; Skaftfell – Center for Visual Art, Iceland; and Jutempus, Lithuania. The project is supported by the EU Culture Programme 2013 - 2018 and is supported by the French Institute in Belgrade.
