Exploring Inspirations

The latest project in the field of design and preservation of traditional crafts titled Exploring inspirations, and supported by Stimulering Fund Creative Industries Fund Netherlands, will be starting in May. The project will have three stages in three design disciplines: apparel, jewelry and shoes. The final fourth stage of the project will show the results of all three stages at a group exhibition in the Big gallery of KC Grad. The project will engage designers of clothing, shoes and jewelry from the Netherlands and Serbia who will get inspired by different traditional crafts, techniques, and implement the newly acquired knowledge to their contemporary designer pieces that will be produced using traditional techniques such as knitting, embroidery, filigree and others.

The first stage of the project Exploring Inspirations, the apparel stage subtitled Innovative Creativity, indicating the need for each individual to find his unique way in order to achieve the desired goals. During one week the designers will have a comprehensive program that will end with the production of sketches for prototypes which will be realized in the future and will continue to be produced. The Netherland fashion designers  Sanne Jansen (www.bysannejansen.com/) and Conny Groenewegen (www.connygroenewegen.nl/), will be participating in this stage. Their work and concepts are very different, although they are both interested in exploring traditional crafts. Serbian fashion designers that will be participating are: Vesna Kracanovic (www.vesnakracanovic.com),  Magdalena Klašnja (www.magdalenaklashnja.com) and Irina Somborac.
On May 19th from 5 pm the designers will organize a mini pop-up exhibition during which they will give a presentation of their work and show some of the pieces from their latest collections. Later in the program Lisa Goudsmit (www.lisagoudsmit.com) and Charlotte Corstanje (www.charlottecorstanje.com) will give lectures on contemporary design and the creative industries in the Netherlands. The aim is to exchange experiences between the creative industry professionals and a comparison of clothing design market in Serbia and The Netherlands.
