Conference on Artist in residence programs

Conference “AiR Serbia - Platform for Artist in Residence programs” will take place on the 18th & 19th of November 2011 in Belgrade at European Centre for Culture and Debate – Grad.

“AiR Serbia” will bring together representatives from established artist in residence programs and networks in Europe, as well as representatives of existing residency initiatives in Serbia. With this conference, participants will have an opportunity to learn more about these programmes and to discuss a development and possible networking of residencies in the region. Conference aims to present the most innovative approaches in artist in residence programmes and to examine the best forms of residences, most suitable for a local context.
An equally important aspect of this gathering is the creation of a regional network that can facilitate artist in residence programmes and help the establishment of new residence centres.

„AiR Serbia“ wish to foster dialogue between all relevant parties, including civil servants from Belgrade and Stockholm, with the idea to present the Swedish practice and the way the state is involved in these kinds of programs.

Mrs. Ika Sienkiewich Nowacka, AiR Laboratory (Warsaw), “Presentation of the project: Re-tooling residence”
Mrs. Linda Rydberg / Jessica Segerlund, Västerås Museum (Malmö), “Presentation of the programme: Farawaysoclose - curator in residence program”
Annika Eqvist, Iaspis (Stockholm)- “Presentation on the Iaspis residence practice for design and architecture”

On that occasion, next to the international participants, local actors will take part in the presentation of their own initiatives and the share of the conference will have Mrs. Marijana Cvetkovic from “Stanica” – contemporary dance platform and NOMAD - dance academy, Mr. Selman Trtovac from artistic association “Treci Beograd”, and Mr. Mladen Veskovic from The Ministry of Culture, Media and Informational society.
Moderators of the conference are Mr. Johan Pousette, expert advisor to Kulturkontakt Nord regarding Artist in residence program in the Nordic and Baltic countries and Mr. Dejan Ubovic, director of European Centre for Culture and Debate – Grad.
