On the position of young artists Initiated by the research of art scene in Belgrade, the exhibition project Without Delay aims to present, encourage, analyze, and theoretically examine the work of young visual artist dealing with the medium of sculpture within an exhibition, debate and educational program in the Cultural Centre GRAD. The group exhibition in the gallery and the public space surrounding the building of KC Grad presents the central event of the entire platform. It showcases new works, which belong to the extended field of sculpture (objects and installation), by eight young authors - Lidija Delić, Davor Dukić, Ivana Ivković, Nemanja Lađić, Marko Marković, Branko Milanović, Marko Stanković i Saša Tkačenko. The artists gathered around the group show relates carefully thought out, topical and critical approach toward contemporary art practices, as well as the specific local setting within which they work, often encountering diverse difficulties during the development of their professional career. Because of its particular character in the course of the history of art, as well as its importance in the contemporary art realm, the sculpture as a medium has been chosen for the starting point for the exhibition. The diversity of its expressive capacities in space, as seen through the creative work of young artists, lays the focus of this exhibition. The sculpture, at the same time, is the artistic medium that is at least represented among the practice of young authors due to the financial and space constrains of its production, as well as the inability for artists to promote and develop professionally through the exhibiting praxis and therewith present their work to the public, which are at at the same time the most distinctive problems they confront with in their local community. The intensive educational program is oriented mainly toward the young public, which will have an opportunity to interact with the exhibition through guided tours, and dialogue with artists and authors of the show. At the same time the participating artists will host several panel talks with their colleagues from the field of contemporary art discussing topics regarding the position and the role of young artists within the local context. Art historian Vladimir Bjelicic, together with some of the authors, will host workshops for high school children that will, through intense interaction and communication, familiarize them with the development and significance of contemporary sculpture from theoretical, practical and creative aspects, aiming to promote and interpret contemporary art within the youngsters.
Authors of the exhibition project are Ana Bogdanovic and Jelena Vojvodic.
