European Center for Culture and Debate GRAD is starting a new program in 2012 –namely an Artist-in-Residence program called  INSPIRATION Belgrade. As part of this program, several foreign artist of various disciplines will be invited to live and work in Belgrade for a few weeks.

One of the first artist to visit Belgrade within this AiR program will be a Swedish visual artist Jacob Dahlgren. This distinguished, world-renowned artist will spend three weeks in Belgrade in June 2012.

The art of Jacob Dahlgren often features a witty use of ready-made objects that are typical for the time in which we live- the time of mass production and mass consumption.
During his stay in Belgrade, Jacob Dahlgren will work on an art installation in the gallery of Cultural Center GRAD. In the course of three weeks, Belgrade audience will be able to witness his work in progress.
His artistic installation requires the gallery to be divided in two by a "fake" wall. Using a power-drill and multicolored plastic expand-plugs as a main medium, the artist will make (or rather- drill) a drawing on this wall. The featured motif of the drawing will be inspired by the artist’s stay in Belgrade.

The artist will be working on the installation from June 16th till July 1st.During this time the gallery will remain open to public for people to visit and witness the process. During this week every day from 16 to 20h you can check ut Jacob's work at our gallery.

Visit of Jacob Dahlgren was made possible with kind support from Republic of Serbia Ministry of Culture and Embassy of Sweden in Belgrade.
The installation was supported by CLIPS1- products of plastic, and WURTH Serbia.

See you at GRAD!
